Stephanie’s Anchor Quilt

Back in high school, I met my best friend.  More specifically, it was the first day of freshman year, sitting in Mr. Weber’s homeroom class.  We sat next to each other and had the exact same backpack.  I think it was blue and green plaid with a drawstring on top.  That was 15 years ago.  Stephanie turned 30 on August 24 and I knew I wanted to make her a quilt but I just couldn’t figure out how to cram 15 years of friendship into one awesome quilt…  After a couple of months of searching, Tula Pink answered my prayers with her Anchors Aweigh pattern.  (Thanks so much Tula, for making that a free one!)

The “Beast”, as I dubbed it during construction, is the quilt I’m the most proud of yet.  I was quite intimidated when I first began but I plodded along because I knew this was the one Steph needed.  I used Tula’s Salt Water line on this one, just like she used in her pattern.

A few of our friends and myself threw a surprise party for Steph at a park and I got to give it to her then.  I was so excited for her to open it, I thought I would explode.  She loved it!

I sent this one to be quilted on a long-arm by Dan’s aunt & uncle.
